A Level Life

Maddie Backus, LMSW

The only constant in life is change. Whether you’re feeling stuck, ready to make a shift, or struggling to adapt to changes that have already happened, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I strive to create a supportive and honest space where we can identify what’s holding you back and build on your inherent strengths. My therapy style is dynamic and relational, with a humanistic approach that centers your unique needs. I’m an LGBTQIA+ allied therapist and work with adolescents (12+) and adults navigating depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and life transitions—especially those interested in exploring the motivations, patterns, and beliefs that shape their lives.

Sessions with me are client-led and tailored to your goals. Supporting clients in making meaningful change is the heart of my work, and I consider your trust an honor and a privilege.

I graduated with a Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas and have specialized training in evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My practice is trauma-informed, person-centered, and shaped by extensive experience in crisis intervention and suicide and self-harm prevention.
